How cleaning hours are calculated

Square-foot tasks use area ÷ production rate. Unit tasks use units × minutes per unit ÷ 60. The calculator uses the midpoint of the same industry-approximation ranges seeded into BidLoom’s ISSA-style task catalog.

The shared bid hours engine adds 12% for transition, including setup, walking and restocking. Every listed task runs at the chosen weekly frequency, and rounded weekly hours × 4.33 gives monthly hours. Totals come from the full task list, before individual display rounding.

These are person-hours. Dividing work among multiple cleaners changes elapsed time, subject to the site layout and work sequence. Periodic floor restoration, window washing, deep cleans and unusual room sizes need a reviewed task scope.

To turn hours into a price, include employer labor costs, supplies, overhead and your margin. Start with the labor burden calculator, or continue into a full bid.

Cleaning time calculator FAQ

How does this cleaning time calculator work?

Pick each area and its floor, enter its square footage and unit counts, and choose visits per week. The calculator uses the midpoint of BidLoom’s seeded production-rate ranges and the same hours functions as the bid wizard. Every listed task runs on every visit, with normal conditions and no periodic buildup adjustment.

Are these exact ISSA 612 production rates?

The task catalog follows the ISSA 612 approach, but BidLoom’s seeded ranges are industry approximations, not the proprietary licensed ISSA tables or a certification. Review the listed scope, equipment and rates against your own walkthrough and measured productivity.

What is included in transition time?

We add 12% to productive cleaning time for walking between areas, equipment setup, restocking and lock-up. This is included once in the visit and monthly totals. The per-task rows show productive time before that allowance.

How are monthly cleaning hours calculated?

The shared hours engine multiplies task time by visits per week, adds the transition allowance and rounds weekly hours, then multiplies by 4.33 weeks per month. Totals use unrounded task calculations; individually rounded rows may differ slightly when added. These are person-hours: two cleaners can share the work, but staffing and site constraints determine elapsed time.

How do restrooms and kitchens work?

These use the seeded minutes-per-room bundles. Enter the actual number of rooms; square footage does not determine their cleaning time. Each bundle already includes its floor, so floor care and trash are not added again. The restroom bundle covers fixtures and restocking; the kitchen bundle covers counters, sink, appliance exteriors and floor. Large or unusually complex rooms need a custom scope in the bid wizard.

What carries into the priced bid?

The button carries your total square footage and weekly frequency through sign-up into Step 1. Confirm the facility type, then enter and review your areas and tasks in the wizard. Its facility defaults can have a different scope or periodic schedule, so the priced bid can have different hours. Free accounts can create recurring bids within their plan limit.

Is anything I enter saved?

The calculator runs in your browser and does not store your inputs. Anonymous analytics count tool use and button clicks without sending square footage, room counts or the task list. Creating a bid after signing in is a separate action.
